    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Do you agree with ISP's deciding which sites will and won't load based on fees?

How fast do you think it will take for these type of policies to work in ruining small internet businesses?

It really worried me when I read it because immediately I started thinking that it would make the Internet way too expensive for the average joe to actually earn a profit from. Goodbye Affiliate Business.

    I know one thing.

If I'm hurting then Godaddy is going to feel my pain because I'm canceling all of my domains as soon as my hits drop.

Also check out this thread on how AT&T tried to extort e-bay, amazon and google.

I think it's the right of the telecom companies. Why should they be forced to not do it?

It gives them an unfair monopoly. They can pretty much decide to no longer show your website if you don't pay high fees. It's extortion. The telecom companies provide broadband access to 98% of the U.S. and they can affectively destroy an Internet Business that doesn't play ball.

Can you pay $50,000 per month to AT&T to stop them from blocking your website? I can't.

I hope not but the fact that they are considering it scares me.

At the very least they could just put a limit on stuff like streaming music and video but that would still be pretty bad. We pay more money for broadband than any other country and it's not fair that they get to do stuff like this.

This is another anti company circus. It's not your property the question is about, it's about the telecom companies property. Site owners will ofcourse think that this sucks, but people in general will appreceit the fast connection. Most people, just use the browser to check their mail and myspace account. Let them do it faster..

Yes they could, eventually people would complain if the companies wont show their favourite site and therefore switch to another company that will. That's how market economy works.

Ok so as the webmaster of the abstract directory and the Myspace directory are you sure you won't be adversley effected when it takes 60 seconds to load your google adsense ads?

No that's not how it works. They've made it so there is no competition. These people own 98% of the market and they have lobbied to keep competition out of the marketplace.

Start your own neutral telecom company then, or join the illegal mexicans and make a socialistic revolution ;)

OMG. Me not wanting my business to go away doesn't make me a liberal. Gun owners of America are also behind the Net Neutrality law.

So how much are you willing to pay? $10,000 -$1,000,000

If there's a great demand, people will switch to a neutral company instead.

It won't, your host can pay the bills for you at a cheap price if they can put up their own ads.

    Yo-Yo is a gun-owner btw..
When I'm done with it(5-6 months) and it works perfectly, I'm willing to pay any price.

There are barrier's to entry blocking neutral companies from entering the market. We made sure that there were barriers to entry because we wanted them to increase profits in order to expand their services.

This isn't a liberal issue. There are a lot of conservatives that agree with the network neutrality law because it protects big and small businesses a like.

Are you joking? If they put up their ads then I can't put up my own google ads and conversion rates will drop. Their ads will completely ruin my site.

Does it bother you that google, amazon, and e-bay thought it would be more profitable for them to create their own ISP than to pay these high fees?

Can Godaddy pay the fee when none of those companies could? Any company that could pay that fee will probably start charging extremely high hosting fees for terrible services.

I consider myself a conservative but sometimes my party just doesn't have my best interest at heart but they are better than the alternative. I just don't agree with everything they do blindly.

I could live with them simply filtering out P2P file sharing and broadband video/music but not websites.

What ever happens I think Moby should stay out of it. He's like the White Al Sharpton.

I have Adsense ads on Geocities and I earn an avarage 0.50$ from them every day.. always something. The most successfull sites I have are hosted on blogspot by the way. Should I be worried? Don't think so..

Anyway, the barriers could be removed(mayby not all but some).. that would pretty much solve your "problem".

    Let's hope so.

As webmasters we have a special interest in this type of thing just like people in other industries. I agree with having a free marketplace but we made sure that the marketplace wasn't free as a favor to the telecom companies. A favor for the promise of better service.

I just feel that they have gone too far now.

Could you imagine what would have happened if Microsoft would have lobbied to keep their monopoly like these telecom companies?

No, though some may try and have done so already it will not happen.
If the try to enforce it then they will wake up in great pain.
