It's just mixing around the words in an article and submitting it to different sites to make it more unique to each... I'm not sure, I reckon it comes under grey hat really.

Hmmm, I'm not too sure, I'd personally call it Grey, but I'm not sure if that different 'hats' are opinion or fact :)

It would certainly come under black hat since ethically, it is not correct to just alter some words. You are supposed to write down articles based on your own thoughts and not copy someone else's writing...

    But then...who cares....

It is bad if you're stealing other people's articles and vaguely rewriting them, but you can also spin your own articles. Although if you rewrite articles properly it's more like paraphrasing than spinning. Spinning is considered pretty low quality I think, especially if you use software to do it that always makes it more or less unreadable to anyone with a slightly higher IQ than a moron.

So article spinning might get you somne search results, but it wont do any long term good to your website if, when they read it, all people see is a load of crap that's no use to anyone and, therefore, there is no point in linking to it.

I guess that article spinning is not a black hat seo, the matter is that you must spin only PLR (Private Label Rigths) articles , and as a personal recomendation:
the only good article spinner that really works is wordflood ;)

Stealing people's article to rewrite is bad... but spinning your own can't be that bad imo :)

Exactly, it's a complete waste of time. Google quality filters spot spun content a mile away. It was common and effective pre 2004. Programs of choice were Article bot, Web Spinner or Website Content Wizard.

None of this software or output content product is useful today, IMO.

    forget spinning.

    1.just do good keyword research
2.get 10-15 unique articles written, using the keywords. headline should include the most searched for keywords...
    3.rinse repeat.

I had the same paralysis of analysis, all the while, time is a ticking.

    For traffic

    join socialposter.com or onlywire.com.
get at least 50-100 unique articles written. (set at least 50 using the drip method for your site)
send the rest 50 to the article submitter to be released whenever slotted...

its something bad to do but many people do it and it isn't considered black hat really the web is full of people using information from others, just should make it look original.

I know that an article would be considered grey hat only if more than 14% of the content is identical to the original article, when black hat kicks in, I personally don't know.
