People do it all the time. Nothing technically inaccurate about it. Many American Indian tribes have long since assimilated into US culture but nobody thinks it's odd if the people still refer to themselves as "Indian" when asked. Persian empire was a pretty awesome world power at its peak, and pretty much the most advanced group of its time in many ways. There could be worse things to identify with.

No way, What you say is correct about Persian Language or Farsi (Although it has different sub-categories)

But Persian race is exclusively related to Persia and current position of Iran.

Although Persian Empire was very big and even some part of Egypt were the land of Persia, but currently this term only relates to Iran.

But I don't know how that Xinxiang Province in china is Related to Iran and Persia ? Because of the population?
We have more than 10 million Iranians living in the USA mostly in LA, but we cannot say that LA in USA is Persia.
