You have bigger things to worry about then adsense placement if you have earned $0.79 in the last month.

Generally the top right and the center of your site are the most dominate positions for Google Ads, for studies has shown that people tend to look around that area. Also it the 336x280 seems ad is the most effective size to use.

The best place is below the title and before the content starts. place a small rectangle (300x250) and make sure its text ads and not image. This has been a major grosser for me in recent times. Also try having link ad units in middle of the content body.

Web directories are notoriously bad for Adsense. Most of your visitors are webmasters/SEO/Internet marketer types...and they do NOT click on Adsense....EVER! It is simply not worth putting Adsense up unless you have well-established, highly-promoted, optimized directory that gets a large amount of traffic.

Focus on making money by selling directory listings. That is how to make some money...not by trying to squeeze a few pennies a day out of Adsense.

Also there are literally thousands of web directories on the web, so you need stand out from the crowd. It looks like you are using a free version of phpLD and a free template. That's not so good. Start by hiring a designer and not using a free template. Potential clients will take your directory much more seriously.

I've found putting them in with the content and fitting in with the design of the site seems to pay off well. However if you are getting 'huge' traffic I can't imagine you would be only making $.79 a month - what type of ad formats do you currently use?

a horizontal banner below your image banner always works great for me...check out my signature...even though i dont earn that much but almost 80% of the hits is the top horizontal banner ad below my image banner...;)

Fallen1, I checked your mattres site. I had something like that in mind too but I want to try things out a bit first before I change again.

What kind ( give or take of course, since CTR must be kept private) of CTR are you getting with that format?

Did you leave it this way for a few days until CTR increased? or did you see CTR go up quick, like in a day or two?

Unfortunately , for directories , the chances of getting money is very difficult . People comes ,submits and goes . And if your's is an article directory , .79 $ is something drastic . Try to add link units near navigation and submission menus .
