New social network, marketing techniques?

Hey everyone, I have just started a social network a month ago:
clicksomeone . com

I have read hundreds of articles on how to launch the network and get it on its feet: it is easier said then done

Basically what i found out is:
1. use a user friendly interface (done)
2. a catchy name (kind of)
3. and the most important: why should people choose your site among thousands... : for this i have a few ideas:
- adding the ability to send SMS's worldwide using your points (currently under development),
- giving users the option of getting their own email: for free (also under development)


I would love to here some ideas from everyone and maybe a few guidelines if anyone has some experience with social websites...

I would actually probably start by promoting on other social networks.

Myspace Group, Facebook group, maybe a Twitter.

Maybe get a MyBlogLog account or other communities.

 

I do a lot of strategies for my websites.. I have heard of social networking long time ago but have not tried it yet.. anyway, thank you for sharing this to us.

 

It's a nice looking site, I agree with Blang.

There are many other Social Networking Websites you could promote on.

Maybe create a facebook group if you have plenty of friends on there, excellent way for these kinda sites to go viral.

 

You should try offering prizes, give aways, freebies, hire a good Adwords expert and do some ad spot buying. Social Networking websites are exciting to work with! I had a chance to work with one a while back. We built it from scratch and promoted it for 2 months before selling it for $xxx.
