I'm thinking about creating a web proxy and arcade game website aimed towards slackers at work and school.

Is it worthwhile to create such as website or is the market for them already inundated?

Are there any free arcade game website scripts out there?

The proxy and arcade would have to be on different IP addresses for sure would they not? I mean if they ban the arcade they ban the proxy at the same time otherwise and vice versa. :D

Proxies are selling up, holidays are about too start. Arcade sites will be fine though. When holidays are over you can start a proxy and arcade and you'll get good traffic. Use google search adsesne thing and make it look like a proxy and make the default search proxy so when it gets searched and they click the top link = money for you.

Well, back to school where I am is only a month away. If I start the website now, I can give myself time to improve it and make it really good.

    Thanks for the advice!

Why do you think a proxy is a bad idea? I respect your judgement, but it is useless if I don't know why you think a proxy is a bad idea.

They use ALOT of server resources and don't make the best revenue considering the server usage

yes, proxies eat alot of server space. You will need your own dedicated resources so not a very good option in terms of returns as compare to expenditure.

There are just too many proxy sites around and they do not quite offer anything unique. I guess a handful of them should be sufficient to meet the needs. If you do not have a dedicated server, your web host may not like it that their IP addresses is being logged at various sites. You know you could log on to a proxy site, visit a terrorist site or a child porn site and not be trace. Proxy sites basically are set up to allow people to visit sites which are blocked by their ISPs and thus you may risk yourself to some undesirable outcome but then that's just my opinion.

With Arcade sites, you can really create a unique site by offering games which others may not have. At the same time, arcade sites sometimes do allow your members to sign up and thus you can build a nice community from there. There is probably some value in that in itself. Arcade sites are usually not server intensive since the flash games are downloaded on the surfer's computer. It however is bandwidth intensive if it gets busy.

I think the proxy market is way oversaturated at this point, and that is why you are seeing the selling point of them slowly falling. As for the arcade market, people are getting more and more lazier every day, and that means an increase in the online gaming market, specifically online arcades. While there is not much hope that you could get big enough to compete with a site like MiniClip, you could make some decent money and get some decent traffic if you work at it. If you are looking to get into the arcade market, I would recommend purchasing a script, not looking for a free one. The prices have really come down lately, with a phpAS license only costing $30, or many others who cost between $30-60. Good luck!
