It seems like Digg have managed to change the ads layouts a lot more than I've ever seen before, so do they have a special type of account due to their high page impressions, creditability, etc?

    I know two magic words.

I was wondering when looking at http://digg.com/ I have the feeling the adsense ads on top have be altered (in a very nice way). But I thought this was against the TOS.

Or is the TOS just for us simple mortals?

People with millions of impressions can become premium publishers and then change the ads beyond what the mortals and inferior are allowed to do. :)

Yea, like T0PS30 said, premium publishers can break the rules.

Well, that's somewhat misidentifying the situation. They aren't "breaking" the rules because they negotiate their own rules, thus they are very well within the rules set forth specifically for them upon signing on the dotted line with Adsense. :)

oh another light bulb in my head

Besides adsense and T-shirts what kind of earnings do you think digg has.

    for example:
Do they "sell" top digg stories??

I highly doubt they sell digg stories. Google has their own news section but I dont think they have ventured that far into the field yet. Then again, the content submitted to digg is hardly a story, it simply provides a brief description and link to the original publisher.

They're a premium publisher. They are allowed to mess with their ads much more than the regular publishers.

d29 is right...premium publisher. They're allowed to do things like that with their ads.
