How can I learn Flash CS4?

Discussion in 'Photoshop' started by Corwin, May 15, 2009.

I just downloaded the trial version of Adobe Flash CS4 Professional so I can teach myself how to use it. I have some .FLA files that need to be edited and "fixed".

Boy, does Adobe make it tough!!!

So far, I've learned that Adobe's online documentation for Flash CS4 is famous for being useless. And the Help docs that comes with Flash CS4 is no better.

I've searched the web for hours and can't find anything decent that will show me how to begin using this program, and the few books available in my local bookstore aren't much help either.

Can anyone recommend to me ANY resource that will teach me how to use Adobe Flash CS4?

Please re-read my original post. This isn't about Photoshop, this is about Flash CS4.

honestly, a good looking flash file usually was premade in photoshop.
the visual part is more in photoshop.
you just have more options like blending modes etc. (Important, if you use photoshop for the prework, dont forget that Flash doesnt support adjustment layers and blending modes. i basically need to flatten your file into "normal" layers.)
now to the flash program. there isnt really a lot to it. teh basics are simple.
There are frames, like in a video, and these you can edit, frame by frame, or with the help of tweens.
then depending on what you want to do, you will need ACTION SCRIPT. i recommend using 2.0 since it works for IE the best.
AS is a cpu language which gives orders like stop, stop and go to frame 1, etc.
    that are the basics.

now you just have to play arround with it.
