Help with flash banner.

I wish to do a similar banner as shown on this website.

how would i go about doing this. I have no idea where to start.

well if you dont know any flash, you have no chance.
Its abit hard to learn but when you get used to it, its ok. (i guess)
I dont even know flash so i cant helo you out here.
Look for tuts, its the easiest way.

 

Is not that I know nothing about flash per say. Just unsure of the methods used to make the main banner in the website i posted.

She's right - start with the tutorials online and as you go you will come across some of the methods used. That banner is killer, it's going to take some time and effort to do one like that.

 

That banner seems to be a very nice creation..
I don no how the creators did.. but i can say one of the possible ways of doing it...

It needs a combined work of flash and photoshop or some image editing software...

1) First build the landscape .. u can take any single picture or u can create your own... for that u take different pictures such as mountain,sky,grass land,etc... Important thing is their perspective should match as much as possible... Determine their order of appearence...

* Now go to photoshop arrange them... now with a little bit of color correction and gamma correction u can make layers to blend and look as though its a real landscape...

* Now save the picture in separate layers, this will be useful when u want to move some objects behind any object (In the banner they moved some particle like thing behind their logo)...

* thus landscape is completed...

2)Now for the flying black particles its better to go for actionscript than to simple tweens...

* Using the functions such as duplicateMovieclip(), removeMovieclip() and set of other functions u can create a random number of particles in random sizes in random directions... with help of simple code snippets...

* thus moving particles is also over now...

3) Now for the wavering plants, if you know a little bit of drawing then with the help of shape tween u can do and loop it... u can use action script for random movements and realistic look.. but here u have to be more careful that there should be no sudden flickering... loop should be continuous and smooth...

4) Now the banner is almost over but it needs some finishing touch to make the objects blend with the background and to make us feel as they are really present there..

* for instance in the banner they created a moving shadow(loop) like thing over their logo.. which seems as though the shadow is cast by neighboring wavering grasses..
for making this u can create a partially transparent black shape... and move it over the logo as a loop.. for making the shadow to only fall on the logo u have mask it...

* like this u can add your own things to make it even more real....
