Why Am I Not Generating Money? I Have A Great Niche!

Ok, so I have a good niche. I am #1 on yahoo when searching for what my website is about. Google has'nt picked me up yet, meaning aol has not neither. But, anyway I am not getting any clicks. My ad blend very well, and are mocks of the most sucessful methods. On, an average I am getting 50-100 people a day coming in. Many of which are coming through my myspace profile, that has a link to my site. What I am doing wrong?

You need traffic, unique traffic. I don't know if you're talking about impressions, but it is possible that your ~100 visitors are just you.

With a CTR of 1% or 2%, you need several hundred unique visitors to get even one click.

Well, technically with a CTR of 1 or 2 percent, you only need 50 to 100 page views and maybe 20 to 50 unique visitors.

It would be a lot easier to answer your question if we had more to go on though.

Big part of the answer right there. That is highly untargetted traffic - unless your site is about MySpace. :D

Are the ads showing up on your site relevant?

What kind of people are being attracted to your site through organic searches? Is Adsense the right solution for them, or would affiliate ads work better?

If you think Adsense is the right solution, are you putting some ads in the content? Too much "blending" can be just as unprofitable as too little.

Your correct, most is probably untargetted traffic. We are working on things to get the right audience from myspace to come.

The 50-100 visitors are unqiue, with about 800 impressions shown by adsense. The ads a perfect. Their 100% relevant. We arn't getting any traffic from search engines yet, google analytics shows the only keyword thats been used to find our site, well, is our URL. It also shows 10 or so referrals from google, yet were not in google yet.

    edit:
We earned 2 dollars yesterday and the day before, and I think in our first month its going to turn out to be about $50 total. It's just it seems like we should be getting more clicks

edit: stats so far this month
    11,121 impressions, $27.52 earnings

im not too worried about it, most of our users are not targeted right now and I know once we get up our targeted views we will be making some smooth cash

just wondered if theres a reason ive had 2 days of no clicks :-(

You don't have a targeted traffic IMO. With targeted traffic, people are interested in your topic and logically they'll be curious to click on some of the ads. They are not interested in the content you give them. My 2c.
    Good luck,

I think search engine traffic is the best traffic in terms of the likelihood of clicks as they lend on your pages searching for a particluar thing.

You need to optimize yur adsense if you are not getting 6-10% CTR. Try to blend the ads in the content colors. Make that in the content. You may like 36x280 format. Alway try Text and image default format. Image ads sucks.

You may also want to try some pics against the adsense ads. This always increase the CTR. Although I am against it, but business is business. We should do what works, not what we like.

you need to design your adsense positions to abstract visitors to click.

Yep, you don't have a high enough unique visitor count to really profit much from adsense.

Click-thru rates according to Google are based on impressions, however most visitors click only one ad if any although they often result in more than 1 ad impression.

A much more useful stat from Google would be clicks/unique visitors. Impressions is a nearly worthless statistic.

Keeping building your site up to bring in more visitors. Or, find a niche that more people care about.

    What's your URL?

If you're not willing to provide your URL, don't post in the Placement Help/Reviews section
