I didn't say it in my original post but that thought entered my mind...Although when I didn't want to pay 100% upfront, he had pingpong on a conference call withing 10 seconds and he (pingpong) kept telling me its ok to pay....go ahead...etc

I hope this guy is legit and someone posts to say he comes through but its a bit worrying that you are now the third person (me, you and 1 other through PM) to report the same experience.

If the guy we are talking about is reading the thread, you could probably make a killing by registering at somewhere like getafreelancer.com and let us put the money in Escrow.

I just think he would have more business then he could handle (and pay lower fees) if he went that route.

I hope he turns out legit because he seemed like a good freelancer

    lol

It seems to be when it comes to Payment time....Hey, I like the guy and I gave him good feedback but I found the whole payment thing to be awkward to say the least.

Like I said, If someone has PAID and has good things to say (can vouch for him) , please post it as it will be very helpful

If he goes for Escrow, the whole thing becomes moot

Yes, pingpong said he is in San Diego (He was on the conference within seconds at 2 am San Diego time)

You were originally asking how he could charge better rates... well the only way to do that is to create more demand; basic economics principle. And if allowing escrow payments would create more demand, he should seriously consider it. He might easily be able to raise rates and still attract too many clients to handle just by establishing that trust factor.

To be honest, though thought that they were one and the same person crossed my mind. I just seemed a bit strange a guy coming on here and effective drumming up business foir him. I can understand a referral and maybe a post or two when someone asked for recommendations, but it all seemed a bit over the top.

I must admit it put me off.

Like I said, I'm new to xoom, etc so I am only asking questions, etc. I still hope I end up hiring this guy.

I don't know what your link to Google listings mean.

I agree although I don't always understand Indian culture so I try to figure out things by talking to the source. I have had misundrstandings where things didn't feel right in the past but it turned out perfect.

I mean to say he said he got one of his site in the TOP of the SERP's

    July 16th -
    July 24th -
Getting a site in Top10 in google for a casino related keyword, is it possible?
May be iam taking him wrong, so its you to decide his quality of work without any real proof's.

Also Xoom is too risky as its just for personal transactions and no chance of getting payments back. :)

Well, Im not defending him but I know the "tough keyword" and it wasn't casino related...I think your quotes pertain to different customers. This isn't one guy but instead a business owner with employees so they are working on a lot of keywords (clients) at the same time

    That is my worry...thanks

I never know what to think about that kind of thing...On one hand if I get really really good service I tend to refer people...On the other, Im not starting threads about it.

I honestly don't know what to think anymore. Like I said, if I can pay safely and the work gets done, I don't care why someone suggested them, etc

The old saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is." comes to mind here.

Why would he not accept escrow? I would hire him in a second if he accepted escrow. I'm not going to just throw $500 at some random person over Yahoo because a guy on DP, with 35 posts, says he is good.

And also, why exactly cant this guy signup here on his own? Whats with the middle man deal? Just another weird part to this puzzle I guess.

They have their own little escrow deal setup within the site. I use scriptlance often, all in all, it's a pretty good little site.

    Heres my scriptlance profile> https://www.scriptlance.com/cgi-bin/freelancers/buyers.cgi?view=barry

If you search the open jobs for "seo", you will see a ton of people looking to hire SEO people...

Sorry to take this a bit off topic but can you fund it with Paypal like getafreelancer?

    edit - nvrmd

I'm thinking if he already uses ScriptLance (His profile says last activity was yesterday) then it might be worth it to post the job requirements on there, then you can pay directly from the second month on which is what I do with other freelancers now.

I dont know how i can prove im not the same guy as ashoke, but we are not the same, but i also said that there is no hurry to pay and we also said that ashokes client is on vacation till the 14th and wont write a recommendation till then. I am just trying to help a good guy
If anyone wants to call my san diego number i will provide it to them to prove im not the same guy. I can understand reservation because i have been ripped off in the past for 5k which is why i never push anyone. Im just confident in his ability

I guess i will have him build his portfolio with my work, but thanks folks :)

we will stick to the projects he is seoing with me. I tried my best
    thanks though everyone:)

jhmattern i will talk to him about escrow. He is just new to anything that isnt xoom, and hes had bad experiences with paypal fropm what he heard from otehr indians. My directory submissions lady said that she cant withdraw money from her paypal account unless it reaches 150 bucks

Guys, ashoke never had a paypal account, i will talk to him about opening one up now and guide him through it

I didn't need more time to pay..I have the money. I was just looking for security.

Actually he has used Escrow 38 times on Scriptlance..I IM'd him asking if I could pay that way but I haven't heard yet

None of us are looking to pay less then 150 so shouldn't be an issue

Sorry guys, but if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, its a duck. From what I've read above, I think I'll pass on this one.

Thanks everyone for your feedback - it's a welcome courtesy.

    Good luck all :)
