sure everyone wants to make a quick buck, only those succeed who strive though, most give up.

I think you misread my post.
I am not asking those questions, I am stating what I see on these boards, I see this question asked on a daily bases on DP and frankly it bugs me.

While I can understand what you're trying to say, I have to disagree. Niche writing is not most often about keywords in the slightest. Writers specializing in a niche, both online and off, are generally writing on a topic that they're uniquely qualified to write on (through their educational background and experience), unlike a general content writer. I'm not saying general writers don't have their place, because they certainly do.

The best money also tends to be in niche writing, but you won't find many of those jobs posted online. It doesnt' mean they're not there. But companies find you through your professional networks or by seeing your work somewhere else and contacting you directly. I believe I've only actually seen one really decent niche project advertised, and I certainly jumped on it because I was qualified. A general content writer wouldn't have been. Another way we pick up our projects is by looking for potential clients where we see a need, and sending them proposals. While it's not my favorite way of doing things, it's extremely effective, and I have a colleague who does this regularly and picks up great projects with high rates from large and reputable companies and sites.

Niche writing certainly isn't "easier" either. So I'm not sure where that notion came from, unless someone else here said that and I missed it. If anything, it's more difficult. But that's because, like I already said, niche writing isn't generally about keyword writing... it's just what you probably hear discussed in places like DP more b/c of the nature of the site and its audience. If anything, it's more difficult when done right. It may take less research at the time of writing, but it takes years of experience and attaining a degree or even advanced degree in a field before clients are likely to take you on and trust your judgement for the niche projects paying a professional writer's actual rates. Becoming an expert in any field isn't easy.

I agree with some of your points, as in a lot of kids thinking they can just whip up a few keyword articles. So I'm not trying to bash your points or anything. I just disagree with some of your thoughts on what niche writing is in most cases... again, I know it's the medium, b/c you hear a lot of the kinds of posts you mentioned here on DP b/c of it being a webmaster-oriented forum.

Personally though, I'd rather continue writing in niche fields where I can hammer out 1-2 articles in an afternoon and be paid as much, if not more, than what a lot of people advertising cheap writing services in places like this are making in 100 articles. I'll enjoy the time off or spend it on other projects where I earn even more money anyway, or on personal projects that I simply enjoy. And I know there are plenty of writers who make even a heck of a lot more than I do. They do it by specializing in a niche and becoming a real expert. So just a general comment to anyone considering niche-writing: make sure you do it right, b/c it really isn't about keywords. I've never had a client for an online project tell me to think about keyword density while writing an article in my areas of expertise. It's because the best niche clients care more about what you have to say, and not about the SEs. They get their traffic through heavy advertising campaigns, or simply their reputation because of that same quality content. Those are the clients to be looking for if you'd like to make a nice living with niche writing.

This is in my opinion, a very good statement. I believe alot (talentet) freelancers should do this. Not only writers, but also coders & designers, it will create alot more money. (especially for beginners!)
