    For all you guys and gals that do stuff this full time, got any good tips for health insurance? I am shopping around a bit, and it's expensive!

    I have a minimal policy with Aetna. The rates went up right after I joined.
    It's a really big scam right now. Too bad they were not able to pass a healthcare bill before Clinton left office.

    That would have been a great plan when I had to have a $32K surgery last year and only had to pay $200 out of pocket. :rolleyes:

    OK staying away from Aetna.

    If you are in the US, there are lots of companies that you can buy your way into a bigger group for a monthly premium. The problem is deciphering all the paperwork, deductibles, etc. It's a headache. You need a degree just to figure it out. I pay a lot (about $300/month for 2 people) for health insurance, but I am thinking about switching up.

    Past 2-3 months, I'm glad I had it. 2 trips to the emergency room (kidney stones) and other visits as well. Instead of paying about $14k in medical bills, its about $2500 (my maximum yearly hit).

    Blue Cross Blue Shield is a huge provider. Rates might be good for individuals too. Why not talk to one of those independent brokers who handle multiple insurance companies?
