Do you put an ad on the single post page so that if and when someone visits a post that has been indexed by Google you have some type of ad running? If so, what ad format do you run?

Seeing that you can only have so many ads per page, I'm in a rut as to how I should accomplish having ads in just the right places but at the same time not having too many cluttered together that will make the reader think wow, adsense site, I'm gone.

I like to use the float method and put a square ad in my longer posts that I make at www.randomfix.com. The thing is, I can only have 3 ads on one page at one time. So, if I have several long posts I can't have a square ad in each post. I noticed how www.everythingusb.com has it where they put a continue reading... link and then in that page, they ad whatever ad format they have. I'm wondering if I should do that or not.

What is your format like and what's your opinion?

I use the theme with them built in at the second sig below.

All the author did is insert calls to the adsense code using the include function of php. This means he modified one or more of the templates and there are several adesense.php files.

I have done the same thing on other sites.

Yes you should definitely put ads on single-post views. If you are well SEO'd, then this is a big secondary flow of traffic. I put a 336x280 at the end of the post, and a 468x60 at the end of the comments.

The 336x280 get better clicks - most random surfers read the article but not the comments.

I don't use floating divs in my posts because I use a lot of imagery - it just stuffs up the aethestics. But everyone around here will tell you that that is the best for CTR.

A single 336 at the bottom always works well for me.

Experiment with colours and placements on your theme, some may work better than others :)

For me the single page is the most important one as 85% of my traffic is to specific posts. I generally use the more tag when ever possible as I think it helps to avoid any duplicate content penalties as only one page will have all of the posts content.

Nah, just the basic "blend it into the background". I don't do anything fancy with my sites; no pictures next to ads, etc. Instead of tweaking ad nauseaum, I do the basic and spend the rest of my time getting traffic.
