    They are a good part of your overall web marketing, but not a stand alone solution. you should have a balanced attack across the entire www, not just social networking platforms.

    It works if you are a moderator or owner of real big community or if you can get your websites name in the description of the community only then ORKUT is useful.. apart from that its a complete waste

    yes they will help but now days I prefer a social network site called eZdia (www.ezdia.com) , it is a site which helps you to make aware about your site to different experts around the world and this helps you greatly bringing the good traffic at your site. Also if you are a freelancer it helps you to earn money. You will like to have a look at eZdia today itself if not done yet
