RingCentral.com is a site I have used in the past. Grasshopper is another one that offers toll free numbers for entrepreneurs

You cannot get the best deals unless you do a comparison of the potential toll-free numbers providers. A virtualpbxcompare.com site lists all the leading providers in the market today and gives you a summary of what they can offer. You can start your venture here. And you may want to check the 800numbersinfo website to know more information about this service.

www.pbxplus.com - they offer toll-free but you get a local number for free.

Speech recognition, voicemail transcription, skype forwarding, unlimited extensions, desktop software to transfer and snapshots etc.

If you are interested in acquiring a toll free business phone number then check 1800baker.com site.

*FYI some providers offers toll free service with full virtual PBX package. So you can get that voicemail service at the same time.

*If the prefix 800 is a bit heavy on the pocket the best alternative will be the 888 prefix. Try not to use the 866 or 877 because they are most oftenly mistaken as local area numbers.

I do know this is a old thread, but I just wanted to give my two cents on the matter.
When you use a service like ring central they will give you a free number but keep in mind that they always own that number so if you brand around that number you are pretty much stuck with said provider.
What I did when I first got a toll free was did a little research someone mentioned pbxcompare above and that's a good place to compare prices for a phone service with number. but if this is a number you plan on keeping I suggest you go with a company like tollfreenumbers.com this way you own the number and can transfer to any provider at your will including companies like telus (<<<I'm from Canada)or whomever
hope this info helps any future users.
    Take care.
    Jay

In search for a toll free number? Then consider the price, plan and customer support the provider can give. It should be flexible enough to adapt easily to a growing business.
