Google sitemap and visitor sitemap

I use a program that creates my sitemap and automatically pings it to Google when it is done.

It also makes a .txt for Yahoo and a .html one for the site.

Should I use the visitor one on my site or is the Google one sufficient for Google to index? Would other SE's benefit from having the one on my site?

Other search engines will definately appreciate having a site with clear navigation. It doesn't have to be a site map but some sort of index is useful for larger sites.

I somehow managed to get a website of mine PR4 from just having a nagigation bar on a lot of my pages :/ and my website isn't even indexed. So if you just link to you pages somewhere, I'm sure the search engines will be happy.

What program is it you use? as I'm seeking to get a sitemap up and running for one of my sites.

Is it okay for me to post the URL of the site? I am only new on the forum and I don't want to tred on the mods. toes. I do not have an affiliation link or anything to this program I just found it to be very useful for me.

Your most welcome. The only thing that I found slightly critical is the fact that the sitemap that it has just pinged to Google doesn't show up on your Google sitemaps page. It is just manually uploaded ones that show on it.

Thanks! I've been needing something like this.

Our frontpage designed site is so old and ancient.

Yes you would need to submit your sitemap to Google in your Google sitemaps account for it to show up although I have a site which I have verified in Google sitemaps and although I have a sitemap.xml file I haven't submitted it to them.

They are aware of it though as when I had an error of a missing page it showed up as being found from my sitemap file that they supposedly don't know about. It keeps asking me to submit one on the summary for that site.
