Definitely don't even bother with MySpace, it has too much spam protection and the amount of users on there nowadays is zilch compared to Facebook. However if you're looking for straight traffic, I would suggest StumbleUpon. You can thumb up a blog post, webpage, etc and then share it with the entire SU community. I know a lot of people live by Digg/Reddit traffic, but StumbleUpon is definitely a reliable source of traffic.

I don't recommend advertising on myspace.com, but there are a couple of ways to generate tons of traffic with myspace without the need of spending a lot of money.

I would have to say Facebook - if done right - 26% traffic in the last month from 5 different accounts
Next would be: Twitter - 13% traffic -same timeframe
Myspace---oh well...as much as you can expect from a dating site.

So making comments as a Guest would be one of the most powerful ways to build traffic? That's interesting.

Could you explain the strategy you use for that?

    Mostly blogs or anything else?

I'm thinking that since my time is limited...it would be best to focus the energy on those that bring the best results. It could very well be more than one but maybe some of them is worth more time.

    Sure dude,

I'm working on a video the explain people how to do it. But basically what you wanna do is create a new account (d'uh). After having done that you need to search myspace groups that are related to your product or website content. Join them, be social (very important), show them you're not a spammer. What you also can do in the meantime is adding everybody from those groups. After having gained their trust, you'll start sharing your links or ideas with them by bulletins, myspace emails, comments,... but keep the ratio at a normal level, don't do this every hour or so...

I recommend Friendblaster pro (i'm sure most of you guys know what this software does). If not, google is your best friend.

I hope this will help you, be patient, work hard and you'll get there.

Either Twitter, Facebook or Myspace, or all three, create a group and increase your client database.

    Hello Billion!

I think for you, Facebook is the best social network.

It has got over 300 million monthly active users which is more than any other social network at present.
These stats are the proof for Facebook being the best social network for maximum traffic.

Since you have a new website, you can target your desired audience by defining accurate demographics of your audience. Here you can find people of all ages. You first advertise your website on Facebook for minimum rates and create your website's fan page side by side which will help you to drive Facebook traffic to your website.

OK, thanks for sharing a bit on the strategy to use. To be honest, I've only been to the Facebook homepage once about two years ago. There is something stopping me from going there. :)

    Ahan!

But that was two years ago pal.
Facebook has changed tremendously in two years time. just go and have a look on how Facebook is promoting big and small businesses online.

Check out these links to see how companies are using Facebook:
    http://www.facebook.com/cocacola?v=app_10442206389&ref=ts

    http://www.facebook.com/dubainetwork?v=wall&ref=search

    http://www.facebook.com/OliveGarden?v=app_4949752878&ref=search#/OliveGarden?v=wall&ref=search

These are few of the fan page examples.
The best thing about fan pages are that people who are not on Facebook can also visit your fan page. its open to everyone on internet.

And even if there is something that stops you from going on Facebook and you don't like to visit Facebook, You don't need to go there.

There are companies that offer complete packages from setting up your fan page to developing applications for it of your desire and then even maintaining it on regular basis.

One fan page developers I know are involvesocial.com

    Check them too.

You surely would be missing a huge traffic for your website if you are not on Facebook
