Is Digg good to get traffic ??

If you can hit digg front page, you can definitely get at least a few thousands visitors. Just make sure your server can take this huge traffics before you proceed further. Your site may down during "peak hours"

Yes , It was getting me about 200 Visits per day , as Digg has good pr so my submissions appear in google

 

I think if your niche is a popular one digg is great. My niche doesn't really exist on digg so am trying reddit for now.

 

Digg has never proved to be overly successful for me so far. As people have said earlier, you need to be on the first page in order to really gain a good amount of success from the site, and majority of articles that find its way on the first page tend to be very general things such as 'top 10 horror movies' and other similar topics.

Doesn't mean it can't work for you though.

Yeah I've hit the front page of Digg before, and let me say it's very good traffic. Here's a post I made on it a few months ago with me sharing my results of the article hitting the front page on my blog.

If you can 500+ digs then you could easily get quite a lot of trafic, but it wont be sustained.

 

If I want to get a new post listed quickly int he search engine I like to use Digg as the links are alomost immediate to appear in the search index.

 

Depending on what u want to promote, it can be effective.
Careful though...it redflaggs you like crazy.

I saw accounts going down for promoting workfromhome sites but usually webpromoting and local businesses stay and go up. Try Mixx it's about the same on a smaller scale.

 

Its very difficult to make front page on Digg. The results are manipulated anyways. Unless you have a sizable number of people who are ready to vote on your stories, you cant expect much traffic from digg.

 

Digg is manipulated by the same people and has been for years, but that doesn't change the fact that you would gain thousands of unique visitors by hitting the front page.

 

Digg is a good way to get traffic but not the best way to increase the number of friends, You should try eZdia , a social networking and bookmarking site, which not only helps you to bring the traffic , but also help in making good number of social and professional connections.
