    Hello Everyone,

Since I am a new one here so I am not quite sure if I have come to the right place to issue my question: How to do SEO on eBay store?

I want to sell some office supplies on eBay.com. How shall I optimize my products? How to write Titles for the products? How to use marks such as ",", "|", "-" in Title? Please help me and I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks a lot!

Write titles that contain keywords that people search for (as many as you can fit in), also add unique descriptions with keywords in the content on the product pages. This works the same as with any website, content, content, content. I hope this helps and good luck with your store.

All titles should reflect possible search words/keywords.

It's pretty much a given now a days. There are free books online that describe the best way to write content for your ebay pages. Google "ebay tips for quick cash"

Use the keywords as many times as you can. However, you also have to be unique in your description.

Another method is to create a free blog on maybe Blogger where you write content talking about the products you intend to sell. And in there, add links to your ebay store. Promote your site everywhere you can including on Social bookmarking sites like delicious, digg, propeller, etc. Find keywords and keyword phrases and use them throughout your text. Keep content fresh. Hunt for sites and blogs and forums related to your niche and post on them and paste your link there advertising your blog and ebay store.

Yeah, I agree with Hanz, create a blog where you can write great content about the products you are selling, then link to them on eBay. Your blog will earn the ranking, rather then the eBay shop, but you can control your SEO efforts on a blog far easier then on an eBay store.

    Good luck.

I am working on eBay (not ebay.com, but everything is the same).

SEO works differently inside eBay, since the searches results not just depend on the article itself but also your Sellers’s reputation, feedback, DSR´s, disputes and policies accomplishment.

Provided you have an optimal profile then you have to pay attention to:

    — Think how the potential buyer looks after your kind of articles and make the title as relevant as possible to that search by using those exact words in the title.
    — You may also use the same string inside the item description.
    — You should also use the “ALT” tag for the images. Off course images have to have a decent quality.
    — Use “Buy it NOW” better that Auction format
    — Be aware that if your item location is in US it will potentially rank in first positions just in the US site (.com). If you intend to sale internationally you can’t reach the first positions on top of Items located in other eBays (for example: in ebay.co.uk or eBay.de)

Not SEO especialist could warranty you the first position in eBay’s searches results, since you do not have control over your buyer’s feedback and DSR’s.

However, you could and should send traffic directly to your auctions from a personal shop Website or by opening a Blog and making reviews of your Item for sale and drop the link in it. Most of the big Powersellers combine sales in eBay and private Website for better results.

At last, please notice that eBay is not a magic site. The world crisis is there and people have not the same money to spend in shops; keep a tight control over what you spend in eBay´s fees and over your income by sales. Before you get burned by eBay’s fees you should leave the site. Unfortunately eBay´s is betting for professional sellers, making very hard for private to survive there inside.

You should use eBay, do not let eBay use you.

Find the middle ground between giving the bots what they want versus what will attract customers to click on your listing.

Also, beware not to "keyword spam." For instance, if you are (as you said) selling office supplies like pens, or envelopes, or whatever, don't put "i phone," or other "hot" items in your title that have nothing to do with the actual item you're selling.

People don't do this like they used to, but it still happens as people try to get gratuitous hits on their items but keyword spamming hot items they know people are going to search for. eBay doesn't take kindly to this.

Just be clear and honest in your titles and descriptions, and have good photos, or other stock pics, and you should do well. From a fellow eBayer: Good luck!

This is no longer a valid way to do SEO as you will get shoved back several pages on Google for doing it...
