i was meaning its not worth it in terms of my sites reputations
i dont want to be labelled a spammer
that $1 spam was a good result in my eyes..
i have called them spam for months and stayed away from it until a few days ago when i was looking for cheap advertising from DP members and got caught up in it all

Now see there's another difference, my bulletins don't look spammy either, sometimes I don't even talk about the site I want people to visit.

I bet that is going to confuse some people. (no I don't do sneaky redirects or even have a link on the advertised site to the target site)

    wrmineo: wasn't me...

ok so your repping him for trying to help. The fact that he is making incorrect statements and even bad mouthing other DP members doesn't matter, (for one of them him mentions I know for a fact that they do use their own account, it's not phished, and you do get results)

Yes, I'm repping him for helping out. Others are choosing to subjectively take offense even though his initial thread was not a blanket statement about all sellers, it was a mere warning to be careful of some who are scamming, which can come back to be a bad move on the buyer and a waste of money. He even went so far as to follow it up a few posts later ...

Unless I'm being too blonde or I'm letting lack of sleep cloud my own objectivity and clarity, I didn't see anything wrong with a warning message to his community members that there are scams happening in that particular arena.

I'm not trying to be abrasive, but I'm not afraid to stand up for what I said either.

    No worries ...

Yeah, don't take this as a general issue. Some people are there willing to help you promote your site with some good profiles, some are there willing to rip you off, just be careful with who you are dealing with.

And BTW, I don't care if it works or not... you guys are just missing the point of this. I don't care if it is spam. I don't care if it works or not. That is not the point. The point is that some people are stealing accounts and then using them to sell bulletins.
Focus on the topic, people, don't start talking about other things that have nothing to do with the issue I am talking about.

Yes there are scammers, however at least one person on fryman's list is not.

So, since you have never done bulletining how did you decide who to put on your list?

I never knew thats why people were phishing accounts. But yes, hopefully everyone realizes that that is the point - watch out for scammers.

But I just wanted to throw something in about about the spam issue...

Is there spam on myspace? Yes. I get mass messages all the time advertising crap.

Is a bulletin spam? I think of posting a bulletin more like posting a classified ad, like on a public bulletin board. I'm not sure how many people here actually use myspace, but you have to actively open the bulletin board to look at the bulletin entries. It's not like you're bombarded with them.

It's like walking by a public bulletin board... you might look, you might not.

Yeah I had a legit myspace account that i put lots of hard work into and had 16k friends, but i just sold it.... I still have my personal account though with 130 friends that I actually know. A lot of their profiles got phished recently, they could still login and everything but someone was posting a spam bulletin every hour or so on there account. At one point there as about a dozen people who were phished and it really cluttered up my bulletin box. Sometimes there will be a bulletin going around that says "get 40 pictures on your myspace!" Really myspace only allows you to have 16 so a lot of kids who don't know jack about the internet will fall for it. What happens is it say: "enter your username and password here..." then you have to repost the bulletin to get the extra photos, so more people are exposed to the scam, and there are so many stupid people that it goes on and on. Then the people who got phished wonder "why is myspace posting bulletins for me?"

Its really lame that people do this... I fought back by telling everyone who I was friends with that got phished to change there passwords.

So If Scammer1 Makes a sales thread "Bulletins to 50k myspace friends" and Victim1 asks "Can you please PM me the URL to the profile" and Scammer1 Follows up by giving a URL to someone elses profile who has 50k friends...then what? I dont see how that even works.

I am thinking of setting up a site and sending out bulletins advertising:

"Find out why your favorite band is now sending you spam bulletins!"

Add the account he sends you to your MySpace friends list (you can create an account in a few minutes for free if you don't have one). Then, you can verify if the seller posts the bulletin or not. (Also, you can verify that the seller doesn't post many bulletins, because that means yours isn't worth much if it's in the middle of a bunch of bulletins. That's why I only sell 1 set of bulletins to 1 person per night, to keep it valuable.)

There's probably a lot of scammers offering MySpace bulletins that are either worthless, stolen, or never delivered. However, there is also many genuine sellers (such as myself) selling MySpace bulletins.

The buyers have to do thier due diligence. Honestly, if they are getting scammed by scammers, I really don't care; it's their own fault for not performing due diligence. Maybe after getting scammed, these naive buyers will learn their lesson.

This is a good idea for anyone who considers themselves a legitimate bulletin seller. Have potential sign-up with you anonymously so they can see if their bulletin gets sent and also what other kinds of bulletins you send out and to what frequency. Seems like a win-win for everyone.

Of course if spamming bulletins is against the Myspace TOS the whole thing is pointless. Then I guess it is up to you if you want to sleep in the mud.

All depends on what you consider to be spamming bulletins. I've seen some bulletins that were paid for that are much more useful than tons of kids saying "new pics. plz comment now!!" The majority of bulletins are random surveys or some sort of promotion anyway.

Instead of entertaining me with a response, it appears fryman would rather red rep me. Its a sad sad life when one sits on the computer 24/7 on forums getting off to "red repping" people as if it accomplishes something in their life lol

TO THE CREATOR OF THIS THREAD, WHY WAS MY NAME MENTIONED? what proof do you have that i supposedly phish accounts? i have no idea how to even do so. im a 16 year old girl. i have 2 accounts with high numbers. one with 70k, the other with 295k. the smaller one is my personal account, the other is a "myspace resource" site ON myspace. stop trying to damage my reputation on DP. this is the second time you've done this with NO proof except the fact that one person was unhappy with results. what about the 20+ people that HAVE been happy? the reason i dont give out the link is because i am afraid that my account will be deleted and i worked VERY hard to get them to where they are.

Fryman, Please stop assuming about others if you are not sure. I have never used any phished accounts for any bulletins. I own about 56 accounts with my 3 partners. Those accounts were bought and then we promoted them on myspace also but most of them havent changed a lot since we could not promote a lot. We did not bought those for bulletins to sell but we bought those for our websites. I collected them all over from here at dp,ebay(about 20 of them) screennameforum and some at sitepoint with help of my friends. That was investment of over $7000 on all those 56 accounts. We made 1000s of dollars from google adsense but then i got worried and emailed them if this is right source of traffic and google said i cannot use bulletins. We then had no use of those accounts. I started bulletins to make up our $7000 but that didnt work out because myspace placed filters on their site those days and most of the URL's were filtered well then we decided to sell the accounts and i have sold couple and i have still some for sale about 30. I was probably one of the first one here to step into myspace marketing and those myspace resource sites and i admit that i have made a lot of money from those in short period of time but i never used phished accounts never intended to scam anyone. I hope i have clarified everything and if you still have any questions i would be more then happy to answer all of them. Hope you will get the situation here and will not consider me some phisher or scammer. I am very well respected and i have a very good job and business(used cars) and i do not want to take any risk for couple of bucks to go to jail. I dont know about others but i am not what you have described me as  :(
