What is fantastico & free shopping cart?

I am looking at some webhost to start online business in Australia.

Lot of webhost package come with this Fantastico script it says.

Can someone tell me what it is ?

I want to start online business and some webhost say it comes with this free Cubecart, Oscommerce & Zencart.

I can try do a bit of setting up but need to understand and know what might be involved with these free packages?

Please note for people responding:
I must say, I have read some of the past threads in this forum and I am aware there are people who might have interest in recommending cart that they are either pushing or has some vested interest.

Can I request for reponses from genuine responders who have been in my situation looking for something from scratch and can offer good advice rather than people recommending with one line reponse to push their products or preferences without understanding or asking what my needs are??

I want something that will work in australian environment when it comes to linking aussie post, tax system and also aussie banks & gateway.

Starting an online store just under 12 months ago for our existing brinks and mortar Fancy Dress Store was to say the least terrifying. Having no experience in this area we had a site built for us by havealook who are based in Melbourne, however a representative came out to see us in Sydney.
They linked us to Paypal to start and this has worked well for us. It meets all of our accounting needs and is user friendly and well accepted by buyers.
The hardest part has been ranking on the search engines and after spending many dollars and not happy with results I have taken this role on and now seeing results.
If your set up budget is low as ours was I recommend this path.

havealook.com.au set up the site and continue to host and I make changes when needed through their easy to navigate back office. Great support with phone and email and always respond within 24 hours

I am currently in Las Vegas at an Internet marketing conference, as I said the hard part is getting ranked on the first page, but luvin it and the new opportunities it has created.

I using Zen cart coz its open source which mean it free and have a lot of helpful plugin.

Hosting is not an issue as long as its cheap and serve the purpose of hosting. Not location matter.

 

most if not all cpanel (most recommended) have fantastico - that simply help with one click installation of popular open source scripts.

If your looking for ecommerce scripts to sell many products - try magento, prestashop or joomla (these are well recommended and the only ones I've used)

Hosting doesn't matter - I find Australian companies are over priced - hostgator is very good and good support
Don't use godaddy for hosting : ) - only domains
