    How do you make your money with a social network, advertising only? I know if you have alot of members you can advertise, but are there any other ways?

    Also what kind of advertising works on social networks? On my facebook profile I see one ad for At&T and a couple that look like they are paid for by individuals. Does facebook makes all their money off that?

    I have to agree. Social networks is a great place to advertise and at the same time it is also one way of increasing your income online.

    The best way to get more people from social networking sites is to be "active" there. Not automated.. people pretty much ignore spammers.

    Can you please explain how traffic makes money, do you mean if you have alot of traffic then advertisers will pay? I'm looking for ideas on how to make money with my social network and all I can come up with is selling advertisment.

    You really have to build a social network and try to get ppl talking about a relevant subject that would be pointing back to your site.

    It's all about how viral you can make your ads and marketing. Get your groups interactive, and get your ads catchy. keep it in their face and keep people coming back with catchy posts and threads. Current events usually help keeping people back. We sell sex toys on yahoo groups and facebook. I see a spike in sales when I post a current event. For example last week I asked people what they thought of Tiger Woods, and woke up to a few sales.

    As a social network developer for non-profits -- I have found those resources to 'make money' indirectly. Mainly, they served 2 functions:
    1.) As a fundraising format
    2.) As a developer for fanbase & rappore

    Social net. is all about being your 'salesperson & PR guru' :)
