It also depends upon how many proxy you want to run on VPS , if you are going for single CGI it might work but as number of proxy would increase you would need more ram .

I have plenty of free bandwidth on my dedicated proxy server. If you stick with Glype glype then I might help you out, also the server has RAM in abundance.
I can offer you proxy hosting until you find a new host / VPS with suits you. Maybe you will also stick with me :)

A 256 MB VPS will be rather painful to use in conjunction with CPanel, which you probably need / use. CPanel uses lots of RAM, and 386 burst is not a lot.

Thus do things right or not at all. Stick with a good proxy host such as, for instance, vectro or obtain a decent VPS with at least 512 MB RAM; +50% burst.

Lastly, use Glype instead of CGI proxy script.

Thanks for the offer buddy. I think I will have to stay with glype for some more time. I have purchased another shared package from another host now. Looks good.
Keeping all sites on one host was a terrible experience. Now I will split them. May be use two or three hosts at a time. I will also buy this 256 mb VPS and test it with cgi.
Yes cgi does use lots of ram but word of mouth is that it is THE best script around with almost all features. Specially the login feature makes it stand alone.

Glad you found a solution. Using multiple hosts you can redirect proxie in case of exceeding bandwitdh and technical issues.

    Oh yes,
the first tip that I suggest to all is:
"if you have 5 proxies, put them in 5 different hosting ;) "

    If I have 100? :D

Anyway, that would be a management nightmare. It's better to put them all with one or two good hosts.

VPS.net is in fact an option. I have been with them before going dedi because of bw and RAM requirement. My operational costs are less than VPS, but for small VPSes VPS.net scales well.

Yeah no doubt is it costly. But with proxys it's not exactly hard to move to a new server with better specs, lot's of pros and cons to it :)

Moving proxies only is not difficult indeed.

But If you find a decent host try to stay with them because there are many fly-by-night hosting / VPS companies with endless outages or taking ages to reboot your VPS for example.

When you look for a new host don't forget the service aspect and try to get some references (not from ebooks/affiliates).

Is there any way to promote a proxy site free and fast :D
Seems adding a proxy to proxylist automaticly is not so good (I didnt received traffic from proxylists)

    Thanks

Are your proxies fresh? If so it may be worth buying an email blast.
