Fixed price vs auction style

    Hello,

I was wondering what you guys thoughts were on a site that offers strictly fixed priced items, or the ability to create a biddable auction. Which one do people generally prefer? As the site operator, which one should i prefer?

    Thanks

that depends on the product. with bidding sometimes I get good prices, sometimes I have to pay extra. if I feel to not spend much time I would do fixed price.

They will be clothing/fashion products that users sell.

I would say go for both.
    Both have their own advantage.

I agree with Mentos ... both have their own advantages.

Whether I'd build a fixed price site, or an auction site, would probably depend mostly upon how I was acquiring the inventory. If you have high fixed costs for inventory, then a fixed cost model is probably best. If you have low inventory costs though, an auction format might work better.

There aren't any repercussions with doing both, in terms of profitability or revenue? I want to take a small chunk out of the total sell price as a commission.
