I think it mostly comes down to you upgrading it on time and having a secure server! Both should be secure. Just make sure you remove the "powered by" notice at the bottom, so that the hackers who search the internet for that term won't find your site.

Wordpress is way more secure in my opinion. Up to you whether or not you want to use it though.

Joomla or wordpress for the security reason, Nothing is 100% safe from hackers, we can only make a little difficult hackers :)

Yeah, nothing is safe from hackers, because that projects are public. But I think Wordpress is better here.

Both of them are not secure enough anyway.
They don't provide captcha on the admin login form so it can be brute-forced

Updating involves mostly just clicking a button. In wordpress you will get a notice in the dashboard that a new version is available. not too sure about Joomla as I have not really used it personally.

Neither one is more secure than the other -- They both have multiple security updates all the time. Any of the yahoos above who say one or the other is more secure, do not know what they are talking about. They both have issues that can be exploited, so it's best to learn how to defend yourself against them.

What you need to do is apply sound security practices to make sure your site is as secure as it can be. This means you need to start reading if you are serious about protecting your site.

Here's a good article on ways to protect wordpress: 14 Effective Practical Security Tips for WordPress

And here's an article about joomla security: Joomla Security Primer

I think you can get captcha plugins for Wordpress but im not sure how good they are. I worked on a project where an open source one was used for Joomla but it wasn't very good, but im sure Wordpress has a plugin for this.
