Website Dilemma: www.webworth.info

    Hi

    Im the proud owner and creator of www.webworth.info - although innovative it is not unique there are many other replica type sites out there im sure you can find them if you're interested ;)

    I have spent hours trying to differentiate and offer more of a niche service as well as optimise the site to improve user experience

    The traffic is building nicely with avg 350 uniques per-day with the adsense revenue sitting at around $1 per day (site is 5 months old)

    Currently my hosting is shared and very cheap - im not sure how much longer the current host will be able to keep up with bandwidth use and growth - I have already moved hosts once as they could not keep up with the usage - they advised I needed a dedicated server for this type of site

    I have put in the title dilemma but I guess others would love to be in this position, however with what the site makes and the money I earn I cant afford the dedicated server solutions out there, I could opt for a home based server but my broadband upload is not great 512k

    I guess what im asking is does anyone know how I can maximise revenue to get the dedicated server or is there a solution out there for around 60$ a month that can cope?

    Any advice on the site above would be more than welcome even if it's a small cosmetic change :)

    Thanks
    Rob

    A VPS Should be fine, or a low end dedicated. Low end dedicated can cost $30-40/mo.

    you can afford vps.. cheap ones like godaddy $22/month...

    but it is rediculous.. you do not need vps if you only have 350 visitors a day.. how much bandwidth you are using now?

    Yeh I have been thinking about this for some time as well - it was my partner who suggested the dark colour as it is diffrent from the others out there.

    Im going to think more about this maybe opt for more of a clean feel

    Thanks! :)

    Steve your right it is quite slow to produce a valuation avg. 20 seconds(same for an update) the site caches the data so when you re-load a site value it is fast - you should have tried it a week ago before I optimised the database and code it was taking a lot longer 50 seconds - im thinking about how I can speed things up.

    What do you mean input url as aposed to domain name do you mean

    url = www.google.co.uk
    domain= google.co.uk

    Thanks

    as i could gather the site is only for calculating the value of a site. if you get in content that help a user to improve or even help a newbie create a site maybe you get more traffic?

    You could try promoting affiliate products on the site, test them to see if you can make more than what you are making from Adsense. Have a look at http://cj.com.

    You could also try selling ad space yourself, directly to advertisers. Use the BST section here on DP and you can also advertise for free at the business forum in my sig.

    Good luck with it.

    Here is my advice on aesthetics:
    The title image seems a bit plain, try using a different font which i more memorable
    Make clicking the logo go back to the main page, its pretty standard
    Use the sides to but skyscraper ads on.
