Improving my Adsense Earnings

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by Flamerid, Sep 7, 2006.

    Hello everyone,

I currently own two sites; one of them earns between 700-980 unique visits per day and the other one earns around 1,300-1,800 unique visits per day according to Google Analytics. Both sites generate a lot of traffic and I've recently placed Google Adsense on them both. Right now I'm generating an average of around $8 per day for them both, and my CTR is about 40%.

I was hoping for some brilliant feedback from everyone, if these earnings are normal for the sites I run. Or if I'm not making full use of my sites' full potential. If not, then I'd be interested if everyone can recommend some advice for generating more revenue and making the full use out of what I have.

    Thank you. :)

    Hello Flamerid,
    Welcome to DP :)

If you'd like to provide the URLs, we can analyze your sites and see if there's anything you can do to increase your CTR - fair game to you if you don't want to though. Additionally, your CTR is quite high already so I'm guessing there isn't too much you can do at the moment to increase it.

Congratulations as well! You're doing quite well for someone who's just started :)

Something doesn't add up. Even on your worst days you get 2000 uniques. Even if they only view 1 page each, a 40% ctr gives you 800 hits. If you earn an average of $8.00 that's only a penny a click. I know $0.01 clicks happen, but averageing less then that seems really really low.

Do your AdSense reported impressions match what your analytics say?

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome.

I could post links to my sites if it's not troublesome to your ToS.

    However, here's my analysis;

Todays earnings are $3, 40% CTR, 40 clicks, 13,000+ impressions.

My highest volume site was down for half the day due to site problems but this is what today's earnings look like.

Google Analytics was recently installed around the beginning of the month, so notice the descrepency of hits near the beginning. It's just been awful since the beginning of this month, the end of summer vacation, and the downtime of my low volume site between 9/4 and 9/5.

    http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/4939/site2wn5.jpg

However, I do have more accurate readings from the server's awstats.

[red] - flood hits from a malicious site, just ignore it

I understand my statistics have been ever changing recently, but would it truely be that huge of a difference on my adsense impressions? $3 just seems so less considering long ago my low volume site was earning $4 a day by itself.

40% CTR????? Surely you must be reading your stats wrong, my friend. With 40% CTR from 1K uniques a day, you would be making $100s an HOUR.

That's what it says, I can post a screenshot for you if it's alright with the ToS. :)

EDIT: Sorry everyone, I suppose I was reading it wrong.. it was .38 CTR.

with 13,000 impression 40% CTR and average $0.10, you will minimum earn $520 per day. I think you gave the wrong CTR.

.38 ctr is a bit crap to be honest.
my ctr hoovers around 2.5 to 3.5% but mine is a forum and if yours is .38 on a site you are doing something very wrong
either your ads placement isint right or i dont know it doesnt sound right
I have never seen a ctr that low on my stats in my life.

is it a site in english language?

post your url here and let guys here criticise the shit out of your site
it helps a lot having 100 different people with experience have a look and advise.

    wish you all the best.

My CTR is even lower :(

I know what I need though:

    More TARGETED traffic
    More posts
    better keyword targeting

Maybe you have the same issues?

First quick thing: Blend the ads a bit better. Make the link colors in the ad match the orange links on your site.

It's quite obvious he meant 0.40% ctr, that would sum up.

Flamerid, on http://www.narutonet.net/m/ your ads are hidden too much.

On http://www.rrrevolution.com/rrrevolution/news.php make the link colors in your ads the same color as links on your site. And I would suggest placing that banner between "Game Spotlight" and "Featured Makers" sections so it was trapped nicely between images.
