Hi Guys, I'm currently thinking about having an online dress shop. Do you think using a CMS like wordpress would be ok? Thanks in advance!

Yes you can use that. And you can use Joomla Or Drupal but wordpress is the easiest and fasted. Take care its not that scalable so can be good just for the start.

wordpress is the most powerful CMS so far IMO
of course you can setup it for your online shop..
I suggest you to try shopperpress. it will integrate smoothly with your amazon affiliate shop

Well you have to ask if there is a shopping cart solution for Wordpress. I am sure there is and you have to research how well it works.
When I was looking at similar solutions about 18 months ago I came down to the following and they are all free and have a lot of support.

    Zencart.
    Oscommerce
    Virtuemart for Joomla.

These seemed then to be the most popular.

If you can find as solution that works with Wordpress and does better than the ones I mentioned I would tend to go that direction.

    Good luck.

Wordpress isn't a CMS but a blog software in disguise. though it can be helpful for your purposes.

I would suggest instead checking and testing available CMS scripts available here, http://php.opensourcecms.com/scripts/show.php?catid=1&cat=CMS / Portals
