Site too simple for adsense?

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by dill, Sep 12, 2006.

    Hi all,

I'm happy to have found this forum! I am concerned about one of my sites,
    http://ketchuppackets.com
This site has received 1,500 ad impressions in the past two days and zero clicks. Do you think that the layout is too simple?...so that it's too obvious where the ads are? Do you have any suggestions for improving my CTR?

Also, does anyone have an opinion on what an acceptable CTR is? My other site has about a 0.90% CTR.

    Thanks!
    dill

i find your site ketchuppackets really funny! lol

i think your market is probably towards younger people who are more 'web savy'? hence they dont bother clicking on the links maybe?

or maybe you may need to add text information so the adsense links are more customized to your comic?

I think you must ad an ad in the bottom, or a vertical one on the left side "looks like a navigation".

doesnt look like you have any ads there...
Try putting just one ad block in between "Next" and "Previous" (or your equivelant text)

You are asking a very good question.

It is widely accepted that blending ads is the aim of the game. Your site design is based around large font and lots of spaces which is the opposite of the design of an adsense ad unit (small font in small boxes).

This makes it difficult for you to blend in your ads. I have this same problem with one of my sites, the site desing is clean and simple.

As a starting point, I would suggest placing a half banner directly under the 'sept 11' link.

    :)

man. i really liked your site :d

hmmn, with my small adsense experience i won't expect much from a site like this

you can add more pages and make the cartoons thing a part of the site not the whole thing

for the next sketch try to make some extra character with a dialogue box (e.g cloud ) and place the ads inside the dialogue box. im not sure is it allowed by TOS anyway :p just an opinion.

Write more content in your page and blind your ads.

I'm still here. Thanks for all of your tips so far. I haven't had time to make changes on my site yet, but I will if my CTR stays this low.

Do that, I recently placed an ad unit on a site next to the "download" button and it's doing good:) Half banner preferably.

That is a great website, some fab cartoons there. Maybe if you integrated some of the ads without description, near the top of the page? Might blend in with the top navigation...
