Am I doing something wrong?

My blog (The Saltwater Report in my sig) has only been getting like 1-5 visits per article from social networking sites, I can yahoo buzz my stories to about 5-6 and then I might get another one or two from a random visitor. Im not really sure if its worth it anymore, what am I doing wrong?

My technorati authority is like 124 right now, but all my other social site progress is just about 0.

Do you guys still do exchanges? if so where? I would do a 1:3 exchange with anybody.

 

Advertise everywhere possible, to be honest it is not a social networking problem, it's a well you problem. You aren't trying to promote it hard enough try and promote everywhere, Google Buzz, Bebo, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Technorati, Stumblr and what not, just promote daily and your heading the correct direction.

 

I agree you should try to advertise everywhere.

submit your blog and rss to various rss submission sites and then digg both urls. Ping all 4 urls, you will slowly get organic traffic.

 

I notice that although you have a lot of backlinks nearly every one of them is to your front page. Build up a load more to inside pages; the deeper into your site the better.

 

Article submitting is good for gaining authority and can get you search engine traffic from people searching keywords about your site. The more content you have the better. Check out this link on how to get backlinks and create content.

Don't forget to submit your site to the major RSS feeds and ping your site after every new article. You can use pingomatic for free to do this. This is also a good way to gain more backlinks to your site...which can help your rank too.

 

Look into linkwheels.. and possibly an automated blog commenter to get you relevant backlinks E.g Scrapebox.
Maybe an xrumer blast may help kick things off.

 

You need to test things yourself.. people are not going to expose their best methods.

 

It takes time - and just because you do SM doesn't mean you'll get results.
