Speaking of Dana Carvey, lets not forget the classic "Chopping Broccoli" :)

    Some favorites:

"Man on the Run" by Wings

"Cats in the Cradle" Harry Chapin

Bob Dylan " Masters of War"

Almost all of Pink Floyd when Roger Waters was in the band (Akhip, whats up!)

"State of Love and Trust" by Pearl Jam

    among others

Sarah McLachlan is in my top three artists of all time. Any Sarah song is #1 with me. Kudos to you for adding her to the thread - she is awesome.

My FAVORITE Journey song is "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', hands down. We have similar tastes music. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, my taste is quite varied.

Sarah McLachlan, Jewel and The Sundays are probably my top 3 "coffeehouse" artists...I love poetry, and reading philopsohy (like Henry David Thoreau's Walden) so great melodies, accompanied by superb and heartfelt songwriting will swoon me anyday.

Give me a cappuccino, a cool night in the city and some Sarah McLachlan and I will be yours forever!

I have loads of The Sundays, as well; "Folk Song", "This is Where the Story Ends", and "Summertime" are my favorites. And, of course, "Wild Horses". Enchanting voice she has...

I don't have much of Jewel, but I do like her.

    Will you marry me?:D

Spirit, Goodbye Alice in Wondereland (and snippets of Pieces of You) IMO are the only good albums from Jewel. Recently, she's been trying to appeal to the pop culture too much, but I'm glad she rebounded with her latest album. Which, IMO is one of her best, probably because it's autobiographical and tells the story (ups and downs) of her life.

As for the Sundays, I'm a huge fan of Harriet Wheeler.....I just love her voice. Most people wouldn't know who that is (or the Sundays for that matter), but I've always been a fan. The Sundays are one of those bands that I wish had a 100 albums I could listen to, as the same with Gin Blossoms.

Static and Silence & Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic are both in my CD changer in my car. I actually had to replace one of them because I wore the CD out a few years ago...

Tara, you'll enjoy this quote from Wikipedia:

"The band's music, whilst not ground-breaking, is characterised by Wheeler's 'dreamy' beautiful voice, 'jangly' guitars and suspension-rich harmonies."

    I'll check this out.

You know, I also love Dolores O'riordan of The Cranberries...another great voice of our generation. Wonderful lyrics, with purpose and meaning.

I have found a kindred spirit in you. Nice to chat with a music lover.:)

    Ditto.

Some of my faves from them are Linger, Ode to My Family, and of course Dreams. I'm a fan of music performed and written by the same person. It's an art, and I have so much respect for musicians who do both.

Since you enjoy the same types of music, you might like Jillian Speer. She never really made it mainstream (which isn't a bad thing IMO).....she used to open for Jewel in her early days in Southern California. A little on the Indie side, but still all written and performed by her. Angels Among Us is a great song.
