What exactly is it? I keep seeing it referred to, but can't see what it is. Please explain to me what it is. Thank You!

Bookmarking is easy. You need to find social bookmarking sites, register accounts there and that add your pages (urls) to these accounts

 

I'm terrible at explaining things, but basically Social Bookmarking for webmasters is submitting individual pages/topics or whatever to social bookmarking sites and using this as a source of traffic.

Sorry to hijack the thread...but how do you know if the site you are booking to is a dofollow (which from what I can work out means the links will actually be followed by spiders?)

Also, do you just post a link to your site? Or does it need to be something interesting on your site (e.g. an article, unique feature)

When you submit your site to social bookmarking like StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg, Delicious etc. your site can be indexed in a short time plus it can be generate a huge traffic to your site and since you are tagging the keywords relevant to your site you may also have return visitors if you have very useful content or compelling offers on your website.

 

I submitted my site to StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg, Delicious for my new blog; Digg is the first one that put my blog on google!

Hello, new to social bookmarking and have a question, when you are submitting to sites and blogs do you post as yourself and list your site or do you just post as someone who uses your site by making up a pen name and writing a review of your site? Thanks

 

I sometimes use my name and sometimes I used penname.
