I know there are different versions of Photoshop, which is the best for website design and graphics?

I agree you will always find better functions and usually a most user friendly layout in newer versions.

I haven`t heard too much good things about cs4, but you can try all of them.
Personally, I only use CS3 and I have tried CS5 too and it's way better

I'm using CS3, and have absolutely no desire or need to "upgrade".
I've got no problem sticking with old software... I'm still authoring stuff using Macromedia Flash 8 :p

    Newer doesn't necessarily mean better.

The latest, but each version offers something new... I would say CS4 or CS5

The new CS5 is the best one, but you can always make awesome graphics with the other ones.

I'd say the best thing to do is keep up with the times. Sure previous releases area great, but with the latest version (CS5) for the time being will have the latest updates/fixes and improvements.

CS4 is what I have been using, but as everyone has said. Pretty much CS3 and up works fine!

i've just recently upgraded from cs3 to cs4 and there's not too much difference. I'd suggest going with the newest version cs5, though if you already have an older version (like cs3 or cs4) there's nothing wrong with using it.

I'm quite satisfied with CS3, I tried a trial version of CS4 but I'm not satisfied with it so instead of upgrade I just stick to CS3. Not sure about CS5 though.
