Recently, there've been lots of talk about social bookmarking. I saw a screen capture video showing exactly, step by step how to do that.

What's with social bookmarking? What advantages can we, as marketers, get out of it?

Sites like de.li.cious do not help in SERP as links are no-follow. However, it indirectly helps by building a brand.

E.g. if you have a site about topic x, and someone bookmarks your site in de.li.cious. Other users will be able to see that it is recommended by some users.

In this way, the users will be marketing your site. Other ways users can market a website include digg, email, IM etc.

 

It also indirectly helps by generating indirect links. Many people will add links from blogs and other sites. Many of these aren't nofollow.

 

Yes and no, but spamming and gaming is ruining whole idea of social bookmarking.

I think del.icio.us is focusing more for web-tech etc. subjects, if you look most popular titles.
