Okay people. I have come across one of the best live chat software scripts out there that is free. This bad boy is tight.

Visitors to your site will see a CALL ME NOW button on your website. If the visitor clicks on it, they are asked to enter their phone number. There is a free version which is unlike anything I have seen. You can pay for extras if you want. Its by the guy who start monstercommerce.

 

I have to agree that this is a great chat / support tool. Unlike the others I've tried it looks completely professional on both ends. Their goals seem ambitious and it looks like they're just starting, but this is clearly on a different level then other "beta" support services I've tried.

So as a small business owner with limited capital I'm really happy with these two support finds.

- exoPHPDesk, but not the official version, the fixed-up BugFix version (just updated with a security fix to 1.2.6) for a php/mysql help desk that's OPEN SOURCE and works.

The guy who fixed exoPHPDesk did so out of kindness so if you do use his version, please support him in some way, however "small."

It took me forever to find these so I hope it helps someone. Thanks for posting about chatstat here Drig or I doubt I would have found it.

 

Hello everybody!

Nick with ChatStat here. Just wanted to drop in and say hello and bring you up to speed on what we are doing.

ChatStat is not just a live chat system. It also can do these things too:

1. Stats on any number of sites using moving graphs.
2. Aggregates the following messengers: AIM, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, AOL, MSN, Jabber, Skype, Skype-Out
3. Direct support for SKYPE OUT. We use this for our "Call Me Back" feature.
4. Dialer Pad to make outgoing Skype calls.
5. Quick Info flyouts so you can see your traffic.

And one of my personal favorites, DIRECT LINK, so you can put links to chat anywhere, including in forums, ebay auctions, and your email signature.
Unfortunetly, I do not yet have rights to make a direct link or a signature to demonstrate this. But I bet eithier of the guys above might like to try it out.

On Monday of next week we are releasing a major revision which includes true multi site live chat support in an instant messenger layout.

 

I decided to download and try it out... a couple things right off the bat:
- There are lots of things on the website that don't work (i.e. "click here"'s)
- Features on demand.. i.e. the graphics - how come I can't see any of the 20 extra graphics I would get?
- The program froze on me 4 times before I got it up and running
- I can't change the "chat now" button at all? I have a black-styled site and that button does anything but fit in nicely.

"This Chat Button HTML snippet can be generated by clicking on MY CHAT SETUP in the top navigation bar of http://www.ChatStat.com, and copying the contents of the Chat Button HTML box into each of your web pages." I don't see that link.. is it just me?

There is another program that integrates with Skype out - and workspretty well for click to talk - its called SKY CLICK.

However, this limits you to skype users, and for a true click to call bug-free solution you need something like LivePerson Contact Center.

You can see it working at our site at www.m2mtopranks.com and it has its own Voip engine - and connects directly to the visitor and the agent.

The best part it that it integrates email, support, knowledgebase and chat support all in one - so why go for free or cheap solutions? After all, who can guarantee a good product by offering it for free or really cheap?
