The Proxy Discussion Thread

I have been trying pretty hard to get my Mobile Proxy to get picked up by google but it seems that the search giant is completely ignorant about it.
If i had read this thread before registering with the term proxy, i would not have gone ahead. This thread is pretty useful btw.

 

is this kind of thing is allowed in facebook ?

 

It's not a negative thing. If you're worried you can write something in your terms of service about it so that your users are giving your permission by using your website.

Back when I marketed my proxies through MySpace I made a MySpace group that I marketed through this method on my proxies, it became the largest active group in MySpace in about 2 months... http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupprofile&groupID=103738312 160 thousand people are members. That's good marketing potential, it would be great for launching a proxy network.

I don't like that at all. A user should be notified and give approval to do this, and not hidden in a huge TOS. Otherwise, your using your proxy to basically spam user accounts.

These kind of scripts may be good short term, but in the long run they cause your proxy to lose trust. It's scripts like these that give proxies the reputation of being hacking tools. You should never be affecting a user account without opt-in permission.

 

I agree. This sort of thing gives the proxy industry a bad name.

You're invading a user's privacy. Isn't privacy partly what proxies are about?

Yep, that's what I meant. Just post your proxy listing sites here and i'll make one. I've deleted a lot of sites from my old proxy list as they got less than 10 uv's/day.

 

Well, you have told me in private chat yous submit to 135 proxy sites, so I thought you want to buy a proxy list.

The effect of a published 'perfect proxy list' might well be that much more proxy owners submit their proxies
which in turn will result in less hits per proxy.
