How can i start an online business?

I don't mean like affiliate marketing or anything like that because i already have a few sites doing that. Say if i had the idea of fiverr.com what steps would i take to get it up and running including the code etc?

Do i need to do market research first and see if the prospects like the service?
then patent it and the pay programmers for the code?

You need to treat it like a business, you have an idea great but so does everybody. You need to formulate a business plan, outline your business model come up with a workable marketing strategy. Then you're going to need cash for advertising you may hire a PPC agency to manage your advertising so you can focus on the core business.

Get the idea, determine your unique selling proposition, check it against the competition, and build it (or have it programmed for you).
Patent it if it's truly unique; then advertise/advertise/advertise.

but anyway, i would say anybody can start an online business,
but keeping the business running is the harder part, its easy to start, but can you keep it going?
do you have the money?
do you have the time?
what can you offer that others cant?

 

buy one domain name first and then look some stfuu for sale...

Yes you definitely need do extensive research before jumping into new business.

The crucial thing is invent the feature that your competitor don't have.

 

Find something you like, find out how others made money from it, find out if there is more money to be made from it, if their business failed find out why it failed and don't make the mistakes they did?
