    you can edit those things.
you can change or even remove them.

try to see your footer.php in your theme folder, and you can delete the links code.

the links in footer usually contain a credit for the theme maker.

    You can either:

    a) get a new, free theme which can replace this one. Try and make sure they don't have footer links. I use the original Wordpress TwentyTen theme and have modded it to suit my style. It looks awesome.

    b) remove the link - who gives a damn. Rules were made to be broken. :p

Or..... You can just take my suggestion, remove that freaking link and get on with your business. I'm sure the theme author won't mind, he's made his money by selling them links - it's the people who bought them links who get ripped of. All I have to say to them is - OWNED.

I don't see why your company can't spend $40-$80 and just use a premium theme? I wouldn't use a free theme for my business site.
Removing links is in bad taste and dishonest. It's part of the terms of use for the theme and why the designer offers it for free to use.

You don't have this problem if you just purchase premium themes. It's not like they are that expensive...some are downright cheap and if this is for a company site, I'm sure if you explain that to your boss, he would probably rather go with a theme were there won't be any future issues.

I currently use someones theme so i kept his link in the footer page - however I have been trying to contact the author with no help at all, so I will either change themes, or just remove it
