i've a good idea, but little or no budget as i'm a broke student :(

whats the best way of going about this? I'm a noOb web designer too which doesnt help as i can't do any of this site by myself.

anyone up for a project with spare cash? :D my idea, i feel, has major potential (earnings wise) which is frustrating for me as it can only remain an idea for now...

The first step is to figure out how much you need, if it's relatively low you can always get a job and save up.

well, i've been quoted a high 5 figure sum (all be it by a professional company) so it's not going to be cheap.

i don't have that money, nor can i get it. simple as that. I'll work 24/7, and back this with whatever i can but i'll need someone ideally who can code the site themselves and take a large chunk of the profits or else do it on a student budget :)

the kind of site im looking for does exist, so it's nothing new... however it hasn't been exploited to the max imo.

My advise would be to try something cheap as a learning experience. You'll learn more about web design and maybe earn a little extra cash. Once you've done a few small projects you'll have a much better idea on whether or not that 5 figure project is really worth it.

What do you need that 5 figure sum for???
If it is for professional web design, you can always post your project for free at freelance websites and receive bids from freelancers. You can find a cheap indian web designer who can do the job for less.

yeah that was a professional company which quoted me.

i know it could be done for less. but it's still a fairly big job, (it's involves a revenue sharing system).

i might look in to rentacoder and freelance websites though... i might be able to patch something together :)

My solution was always to figure it out and do it myself. I don't see the justification of paying someone $10,000 - $50,000 just to code something that I could do myself in a few months. Saves you a lot of grief and trouble. You also sleep better at night knowing the code is as tight as possible and there are no information/algorithm leaks.

Especially since there's already a market and other websites out there like it, I believe you should just look at how they do it, code something up, but then do it better.

Of course if you have no idea how to program, you must learn. If you're a fast learner then that's great, otherwise you just might as well use elance.com, rentacoder.com, or other freelance work sites.

Go to your local college and look for student's in the IT type classes. College kids tend to work on the cheap.

If you are a student, find another student that can do the programming and partner up dude.
