I know that one of you generous geniuses out there will help me....
(and yes, I am sucking up..)

I have a logo that I need to have a transparent background.
Shouldn't be too difficult to do but I am evidentally not savvy enough to do it!

Can someone plese point me to a tutorial that I can work with?
Or do it for me? I will tell everyone that I know about my wonderful, good deed do-er new internet bff.

Also, the logo is kind of plain, I know. If you are sitting there with a good idea for it, you could punch it up a little bit, I wouldn't mind...

A million and a half thank yous to all of you (and I know there will be tons!) that help me out.

    Kami

Oh, it seems that I am unable to attach the file, a little help??!:)

If your logo has a bg simply get rid of the big (hopefully its on another layer) and you will see the white/gray boxes behind it, save it as a .png

If that doesn't help at all let me know I'll send you an actual tut.

select the area u dont want to be transparent. there are numerous ways of acheiving the selection, depending on your logo it may be as easy as using magic wand.

make sure the logo is not set as background layer in layers. if it is make it a normal layer by duplicating it or double clicking it.

with the selection selected, (ie there will be moving outline of white dots around the area to be solid) hit the add layer mask button in layers pallette.

You will need photoshop or fireworks to do this.
Click on the background colour and use the magic wand tool.
Right click your selection and if there is no other instances on those specific colour select all similar colour.

Press delete and save as a PNG or GIF
    (PNG is higher quality)

Btw, make sure you save as a 24-bit png in photoshop, with 'transparency' ticked (in the Save for Web dialog)

Select the outline of the logo using selection tools [ pentool , lassotool ..etc] . Now press CTRL + J to create a duplicate of the selected part and delete the original . Once you delete the original save the image with .png format .

Several people have talked to you about simply getting rid of the background and saving it up. Make sure you understand that if you want a full-color logo or one with a blurry/shadowed edge, save it as a PNG. If it's simple colors, it might be best to save it up as a GIF.

If the background layer is defined, you can easily cut it, and then just save it as .png.
