What Online Businesses have best chance of success?

Hi,
This question can mean many things to different people so I would like to define the parameters as follows:
-Success : in this case, let us say success means making >$1000 per mth
-Best chance
In any type of online business, the majority will fail with only a minority succeeding. So if Adsense business has 90% failure rate (not making >$1000 per mth) while Job sites have 95% failure rate, than Adsense has a better chance
Also we should be limiting it to low startup costs ( a few hundred dollars at most)

In your opinion or based on stuff you have read, which online businesses have best success rate? Would it one of these below or a hybrid or others?
-Blogs/ new news (Adsense content sites+ Affiliate programs)
-ecom products Store (using Affiliate program or Dropshipping)
-Proprietary Affiliate/Referral Program
-Infomediary (selling ebooks, information)
-Web services:SEO /webhost/web marketing services, turnkey solutions
-Forums
-Classifieds like craigslist
-ebay Trading
-Marketplace sites (Jobs, business trading)
-Shopping Points/Get Paid To (GPT) Offers &Surveys (not the illegal scams)
-Software downloads (especially unique web solutions)
-Music/media downloads
-Dating sites
-Directories for links, articles, facts
-Specialised Social search community (eg. Yahoo Answers)
-Vice/bad habits sites (porn,gambling casinos, drugs, smoking)
-Hit and run short-term hyped ideas like www.milliondollarhomepage.com or wordclouds

best business is probably the one you're willing to put most time in

for example: i can't stand selling on ebay. But that's just me.

You can have success in lots of different markets, however some are faster to gain these amounts than others.
Information is probably the #1 seller on the internet today and as far as i know will always be - Information sells!

It is important that you choose a market that you like and build yourself up the ladder.
I won't recommend a 'going for the money' strategy because you can lose interest if you don't like what you are doing
Just build useful content that people will enjoy and money will follow if you stick to it...

Didier is right, information is very low startup and VERY HIGH profit margins. Think about it this way, you have information that people in your niche market wants...and they are willing to get that information to solve their problems.

The only thing you have to do is have them download the information, whether it's an ebook, video, audio, etc... and you get paid over and over for each unit sold.

People are always going to be hungry to make their lives easier or more enjoyable and you are providing that to them by showing them a solution.

As for chances of success for what kind of business...that doesn't matter, what matters is what you do with your business. And don't go jumping all around just b/c in one month something you tried didn't work...like Didier said money will follow if you stick to it.

 

Exactly correct. Pick something you enjoy and success will follow.

 

Actually, I haven't found that to be the case at all. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to make money. Successful sites are using a number of attributes above to make money.

 

This is true. You don't have to do something no one else is doing, you just have to do one thing better than anyone else.

And that one thing can be very very small.

 

In order to earn money you have to build your own formula. It may take sometime and money. I haven't find mine yet but i know wheni did, it will make earning money a lot more easier rather than a crappy 9 to 5 job.

exploring a niche product with high value can also generate u huge income.

 

Out of that list you provided, I pick:

• Web services
• Downloads
• eBay trading

 

ah yes something free downloads, surely gets tonnes of visitors and tht would give returns with ads
but something creative and unique download distribution could jus do the trick.

 

If you add nothing new you wont stand a chance against the already worked in names. You need to bring new design, new features, new ideas, new performance, new cleverness to the table to succeed.

Posting on dp with a list of old ideas isnt the way to success.
