    Hey all,

One of my communities http://www.writersbeat.com really needs some optimization. My ctr is so low it's embarassing!

If anyone could please give me some tips, that would be great. Thanks :)

Looks like you need some content. The forums are nice but more content.

Realize that it's a message board and will most likely have the inherently low CTR.

Since you have link units, I suggest putting them near the top navigation where they'll get more attention than at the bottom. Be warned, though. I don't have much experience with link units because I don't like them so I don't use them anymore.

For the banner, I would use a leaderboard in its place. The banner is relatively tiny, and I don't know how good the white space around it makes it look.

I don't know about your target audience or visitor demographics, but I think a page with some images will look better. Maybe some icons by the ads would help, too. I really don't know about this one.
