25 years old?! Woah. That's tough.

My mom raised me alone so I never had much problems with 'parents'. I'm 22 now and I got my freedom when I was 15. At that time, I could go anywhere at anytime without any curfews, although I would need to let her know where I'm going. She also knew that I was smoking and drinking at that age, mainly because I grew up without a father, however she never said anything about it. She knew that I was old enough to know what I'm doing.

It depends with the family you grew up in really.

I wouldn't call that lucky or anything. It could have been the other way around if I grew up with 'parents'.

You could just tell your parents that you're just going to do your own thing.

As for my parents, well, I don't really hate anything about them. They're very supportive of me and are putting me through college. Sometimes they have opinions that I don't agree with, and while I respect and take into consideration what they think, I usually do my own thing. They normally don't have a problem with it.

Yeah, my parents also weren't too strict. I got freedom when I was about 15 and then I started doing stuff that I wanted to do. Also they were supportive when I decided to leave college and start working.

Again, it isn't about luck. You're even lucky that you still have your parents while some don't, not to mention those poor kids who lost theirs or doesn't have parents at an early age.

You could try talking to them, just letting them know how you feel could help.

I'm 21, and I don't really have any regulations. I know what I am doing, and my parents know I make the right decisions, so its all good.

How are you guys still controlled by your parents at that age?

I'm 21 and live on my own with my girlfriend.

    Maybe you should move? :D

I'm guessing you are still at home, OP? I imagined you were but then I wasn't sure as you're 25.

I did what I wanted from 14 or 15 and I left home at 16. I am not "lucky", I simply chose to move out and worked for it.

Maybe you should work at that, too?
