For your Blog/Site Do You BUY IMAGES or USE GOOGLE IMAGES?

I have a small site and i was just wonderin what you guys do? I'm not sure if i should use google images to start or buy images from www.iStockPhoto.com ?

What do u think?

I prefer to use free photo galleries as Google may provide copyrighted materials. Check the links: http://www.stockvault.net/ & http://www.freepixels.com/

 

Sometimes I buy. I never take from Google images unless they are promotional images, or unprotected. For instance, if you blog politics every elected official has at least one press photo. I would consider those OK to use.

If you blog electronics, same thing. Most products have images that they make available to the press.

I don't use images that I'm not sure about, or assume that it is OK just because I credit the source.
On one blog I also use Zemanta.

 

You can also check out http://sxc.hu It is a great, free online stock image site. In many cases you will still need to credit the owner. I would not suggest using Google Images because of copyright.

 

Isnt http://sxc.hu partnered with istockphoto.com ? At least that what i thought.

 

15 to 20% I used google images
80 to 85% I get them from royalty free sites


if you say google images are copyrighted what's the purpose of indexing the images are for?
