my lame business plan.

ok , my business plan goes as follow. note : I've got a 5 dollar a day goal to make.

1. Get a collection of funny pictures.
2. Make a custom script to display these.(doing now)
3. Read as much as I can , find out all the keywords and stuff.
4. Buy a domain , still not sure if anyone's got a suggestion shoot me pm
5. Because it's humor and teens love humor , try to get some myspace bulletens done.
6. Post some VERY funny vidoe son youtube , or gootube then watermark with a link to my site.
7. Sit back and hope to get 5 dollars a day via adsense.

anyone got anything else I should be thinking about?

I'm currecntly almost on stage 4.

 

may I know your promotion plans ?
is this website just simply rotating funny picture and video section ?

 

Submit the site to directorys. I have been doing this for flash.vg for 15 hours and i only have a small increase in traffic, but it is an increase which i can notice.

You might find that your CTR ratio in that market is very low, meaning you'll have to attract a lot of traffic to make up for it.

$5 a day is achievable definitely though. Have you a date set in your head for when you want to reach that level?

Also with the domain name, try to include keywords in it which have a high score in the Overture Suggestion tool. That way it'll be much easier to rank better for the phrase in the long run.

Robert: Directory submissions are not done for traffic, but for backlinks mostly. If you have noticed any traffic, that was directory admins visiting your site to find out whether it can be approved.

 

thanks guys! I guess it will be hard to rank due to tought comp. I'm making a simple layout so I can maximise links. Like charging people. I want withing 2 weeks 2 be earning 5 dollars a day. (USD)

Probably, but i need backlinks for my SEO anyway. I am already getting loads of links from MSN and some from google.

(search MSN for flash video games, i am 1st.)

 

5$ a day would be no problem. I would try to grab so text links on myspace help sites, or any sites related to teens. The biggest step though is not to give up.

The idea is good otherwise, nice business plan, feels good to see that people actually plan out their stuff and then progress, I have seen people go 1...3...2....8....4.....5....106

LMesh, this has been done time and time over and over again. You're right though, because it's funny there's still a market for it.

To be successful in this, you are going to absolutely need original content. Starting up another ebaumsworld is not the way to go.

I like the youtube idea. If the videos are original your site will get some neat viral promotion. So, my suggestion is that you come up with original content for this plan.

If & when your site starts getting significant traffic, look into CPM programs, humour sites tend to generate more pageviews than clicks.

 

Answer the following questions:

1. Why would an advertiser want to spend money for traffic from this site?
2. When I visit sites to see funny pictures, do I purchase something or click on ads?

 

Probably a bit of both actually.

 

1. They might not but that's where adsense, ypn or adbrite comes in
2. If you have intergration you can get someone to click on the ads no matter what they are trying to do.

 

Additional suggestions :

1) Try submitting your site / latest pic link to digg / reddit or other such social bookmarking sites - and if you've got friends to digg it for you, all the better.

2) Blog it, and comment on other funny / picture blogs - you can hope for some traffic from there.

3) If you can get folks to contribute their funny pictures or videos - who needs youtube??

 

I disagree, actually. it's easy enough to get clicks in the entertainment industry... however, the earnings per click are pathetic.

it's easy to get traffic, but the traffic isn't worth much, even with the best... monetizationizers (that should so be a word ) out there.

any way you cut it, though, you've got a decent plan, and 5$/day is definitely something I could see happening. don't restrict yourself just to adsense though.

 

Yeah, id say adsense & valueclickmedia should definatley be an option!
