FB & Twitter Buttons Good For SEO?

Am I the only person here that pushes those things?

You know, DP has provided buttons at the top of the thread for our convenience. Since the search engines are now incorporating social bookmarking into their algorithms, why aren't we pushing those buttons like crazy? Every time I make a post or start a new thread I like it and tweet it.

As it is good for DP it is also good for me as well. I benefit by keeping my accounts active, my social accounts are in the SEO niche, people who follow/friend me are also interested in SEO and seeing post subjects of interest to them it thus educates them with insightful posts, not just from me but you as well, raises my profile/visibility.

Only good things can happen. I get more friends and followers, and down the road it assists whatever I'm promoting for my own ends.

    Hello,
I guess, its very true as per the benefits mentioned by you. One could go with many other Social sites, but since these two are the most famous among people so buttons really help. Other sites like MySpace, youtube, Digg, Del.icio.us and so on are also be helpful in SEO but not so much as compared to FB and Twitter.

This topic is more appropriate for the SEO section, but since it's also connected to social marketing, I guess it's OK. I noticed in the Google Webmaster Tools that Google indexes links coming from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others to my own websites, although they are nofollow. It can't hurt definitely.
