    Wordpress is just a general platform. There are many "themes" and "plugins" that you can use depending on your "business" needs.

    I've seen people doing the following with wordpress.
    1. Simple Blog
    2. Online Store
    3. Membership Sites
    4. Squeeze Page
    5. Product launch with affiliate system

    Any CMS is good for business website. Wordpress has it's limitations if you are developing with custom applications. It can still be used as a blog attached to your main site if you happen to work on something complex. What do you mean when you say business? It really doesn't mean much these days. Some people here consider their sites being a business even when copy/paste (or auto) blogging for 5$ a month... There are eCommerce plugins for it but many people agree it's not the safest option if going in this direction. If you explain your question you might get a better answer.

    PR doesn't mean much if you don't have everything in place. SEO on and off page, keywords well researched and finally niche keywords in your domain.

    The range of plugins available allow you to do almost anything - including optimising for SEO and getting free traffic
