YouTube was sold for $1.65 Billion. This was not a transaction of dollars, it was of stock, not to say that dollars are nto equivalent this was done to avoid paying as much taxes.

Myspace perhaps $10 Billion, but definately not $400 Billion.

they may be that big , if they diversify business , and use funds to grow . any company who is very agressive and willing to increase shareholder's money is my first choice ... for example see google , they keep launching new thing every week or month . is my space working hard like that too ? if myspace want to reach to 400 billion , simply first of all use 50% cash /stocks and diversify business in auction , also come and launch affiliate network, search engine etc .... if they will do sure they may cross 400 billion ..because competition is increasing day by day so donot think only a website could have so much market capitlisation .....

however i dont have there stocks who cares where there valuation goes ... however one thing i should asssure you guys is that my suggestion is worth 5000 billions if any company willing to practically impletement it ..

in simple words " donot say we have $$$ billion cash reserves , use that money , spend that money to grow "

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. YouTube went for $1.3B, therefore that is what it is worth.

It would take $130 billion to buy the entire company.

So true. Last car I bought the offer I made the sales manager just laughed. I took him outside it was the end of the month. I pointed out all the excess inventory and the salespeople smoking cigs and practicing thier golf swing behind the shop. I asked him rather seriously if sales have been so dismal and reminded him that He would need to close my offer before 5pm as I had another offer in the works (Which he did call and verify, he thought I was pulling his leg. ) that needed to be closed by 6 and I was done negotiating. Needless to say it was one of those fine moments; I made a steal that day.

So on the backend it is only worth what someone is willing to let it go for.

So gates has about 50% downpayment. :)

Myspace will have to work hard to stay at their level. $580 million a year ago and the competition is stronger now, so I can't see it being worth much more than $1 billion.

Here is the Alexa rankings for both Myspace and YouTube.

    You're right!

When you said, "These figures may seem vastly exagerated."

Those numbers are crazy. Frankly, I think the almost 600 million paid for myspace was the funniest buy in corp america.
