How much do you spend on a new site?

I am planning to start a new niche site, but i am curious on the amount you spend to start a new niche site.

For now I already have a domain and hosting, so i think i will spend some $80 to start.

- link building service around $50 for manual directory submission
- unique content $30

Is this normal to start with this? Tell me your experience

It will get you started, but it will cost you lots more in the medium to long term

But keep at it and work hard and you will get there

 

Since I host all my sites on one server i usualy only pay for the domain name ~ $ 6 and for the design $ 50-500.

 

And how do you get backlinks? You submit your site by yourself?

 

One of my newest sites, spent about $1k so far, loads more still to go :|

 

I have hosting for multiple sites so for i spend for a new sites like this
1 . Domain name 5$
2 . Some design work 50-70$ my partner designes for me
3 . Some programing 40-80$ again a nother friend does the work
And that is i do all the building and scripts and etc
Some articles i payed to have writen and submited to articlesdirectorys but not more then 30$

 

I link to the new site from one of my other sites to get the crawlers on my site so I never bought a link.

 

Actually I mean all the costs for marketing and not costs for developing/webdesign..

So I want to start a niche site, I have to buy some articles, but I will also write them. And what do i need to spend for marketing? Like backlinks? SEO?

 

Start small, first start doing some SEO yourself, to get the knowhow. It will also be good later on when you outsource so you can negotiate well (won't be scammed).

and sometime not even single penny.

 

I dont spend money on a site. I use blogger which is free and I advertise my taget market on forums, post comments on blogs and submitting on free directories, all of which dosent cost money but I guess they are not as effective as ones that you have to spend money on

Definatley, if you want to make $1, can easily do it without spending much or even a penny, but when you want big bux then you need to plan what your buying etc.

 

my first site i spent about $200 on - $100 for directory sumbissions (too much but i was new) and $100 on links... my second site, i have spent nothing until today when i bought a link on a site which seems to have results for others, just to see how it goes.

 

time = money
paying people to do things for you is the only way to get things done.
otherwise you just will not have the time it takes.
$500 will get a niche site into the market and get a name for itself.
$1000 will dominate a small niche.
but you can easily get a site of for $200
fre if you have a lot of time.
I recommend $500 for a directory ( 200 for design, 100 for coding and 200 for links)

 

I wouldnt say you can just buy links for a directory and then just relax, would need way more than $200/month for good links and traffic
